Sean DeFrehn and his family of seven are very active in our community through Church, coaching the kids' swim team, and managing the Homeschool Co-op. Sean has served on the boards of local and national charities various outdoor hobbies gardening, hunting, fishing, riding their horses, and working on their old home.

His articles on personal finance have been published in Morningstar, Motley Fool, the Examiner.com and more. Mr. DeFrehn has a Bachelor of Science from the University of Maryland University College in Business Management with a specialization in Finance. He is currently enrolled in a Master of Theology program at AHOS (the Antiochian House of Studies).
He earned the Accredited Investment Fiduciary (AIF®) designation from the Center for Fiduciary Studies. The AIF Designation certifies he has specialized knowledge of fiduciary standards of care and their application to the investment management process.
He earned the Behavioral Financial Advisor (BFA™) designation in the study of combining conventional financial knowledge with psychology and neuroscience to improve the decisions made by clients. Helping decisions track more closely to their values by increasing emotional competency in financial matters.
He earned the Certified Plan Fiduciary Advisor (CPFA®/QPFC) credential, which demonstrates his knowledge, expertise, and commitment to working with retirement plans in areas of fiduciary responsibility, regulatory compliance, and best practices in plan management.
He also trained at Merrill Lynch and Morgan Stanley, where he began his career and earned his professional licenses. Series 7 – General Securities Representative Examination and Series 66 – Uniform Combined State Law Examination. Mr. DeFrehn became an independent advisor by starting DeFrehn Consulting in 2002. DeFrehn Consulting is an RIA (Registered Investment Advisor).
